He has served on the Board of the Justice Research and Statistics Association (JRSA) as an at-large member, Secretary-Treasurer, Vice President, and President. His interest in corrections research has led to the publication of numerous reports related to corrections and parole. RECAP OF SEPTEMBER 17, 2013 MEETING:
Our thanks to Julie Bardin, Intake/Case Manager at the Beacon of Life for a very informing program. The Beacon is a highly structured transitional living facility for homeless women, most are re-entering society from incarceration. The program takes a minimum of 4 months to complete, but women can stay up to 2 years, average length of stay is 6-9 months. They average a 3 month waiting list.

The Beacon recently revamped their program to include 4 main points to a healthy and successful life, which include: employment, financial empowerment, health/wellness and recovery. The program has 4 phases with more responsibility, later curfew, and more free time in each phase.

Women are expected to complete a minimum of 15 hours of community service for the Beacon and are expected to find and maintain employment.

The Beacon is in need of volunteers to lead budgeting, financial literacy and career planning classes, to assist with fund raisers and in their Valley Junction store, Found Treasurers.

UPCOMING MEETINGS & PRESENTERS:
In November our presenter will be Samantha Tucker, volunteer coordinator at ICIW.

FIWP LEADERSHIP TEAM: There will not be a Leadership Team meeting following this meeting
