MISSION STATEMENT
To bring together and inform individuals and groups concerned about women in the Iowa correctional system and to act on their behalf.
INTRODUCTIONS and ANNOUNCEMENTS
Our regular February meeting will be a part of the United Methodist Advocacy Day. Please refer to the attached agenda. You are welcome to do both, we will meet at our regular time while they adjourn to the Capitol to meet with legislators. (Download the UMC Advocacy Day flyer )

PROGRAM/FOCUS:
We welcome Warden Patti Wachtendorf as speaker at our February meeting. It has been three years since Patti has done a program for us, much has changed in the meantime: new prison occupied, Program building construction well underway and new DOC Director to be named.
RECAP OF JANUARY 20, 2015 MEETING:
Our thanks to The Rev. Brian and Mrs. Rita Carter presenters at our January meeting. The Carters are serving in their second year as volunteer lobbyists for the Iowa United Methodist Conference along with four other volunteers. One of those is Sheila Corsbie, who regularly attends our meetings. Marty Ryan and Stephanie Fawkes-Lee serve as consultants for them.
The Carters shared with us their legislative priorities which include: Inclusive Community, Criminal Justice/Restorative Justice, Human Trafficking, Environmental Justice, Poverty and Economic Justice and Mental Health.
Come to the Advocacy Day, enjoy our program with Warden Patti Wachtendorf and go to the Capitol to meet with your legislator when the Advocacy Day programming ends.
UPCOMING MEETINGS & PRESENTERS:
Our March meeting will focus on Re-entry. Presenters will be the Rev. Lee Schott sharing the Reentry program of Woman at the Well and Kathy Culbertson sharing the Reentry program of ICIW.
